Filling out your application with Adobe Reader

Application documents for City of Tukwila positions may now be completed online, then printed, signed and submitted.

Software Requirements:

You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 7.05 or higher) installed on your computer to view, complete, and print the fill-in forms. The Reader is free and you can download it at the Adobe Systems web site.

Downloading Forms to your Hard Drive or disk:

  • Identify the position opening you wish to download;
  • Right click on the "Full Description" link;
  • Select "Save Target/Link As. . ." when presented with pop-up menu;
  • Select the destination directory for the download file; and Choose "Save."

Completing the online application materials:

  • Open the Application Materials in Adobe Reader.
  • After completing the Application Materials, save a copy, print it and sign the materials.
  • Applications must be received in the Personnel Office by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date. At this time postmarked, faxed, photocopied or emailed forms of applications or resumes will not be accepted.
   

General Application Information

City of Tukwila employment opportunities are posted on the Internet and on our 24 hour jobline at 206 433-1828. Employment applications are only accepted when the position is posted during the open recruitment period. Any unsolicited applications will be returned. (applications or resumes are NOT accepted over the internet or via email or fax)

Application packets may also be obtained in person at the Personnel counter between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 6300 Southcenter Blvd., #112.   Please follow the directions to Tukwila City Hall, and turn at 63rd instead of 62nd.  When you enter the 6300 building, turn left and go to the end of the hallway and enter Suite #112, which is the last office door on the left. You may also send a business sized, self addressed, stamped, envelope along with a written request for an application to: City of Tukwila Personnel Office, 6200 Southcenter Blvd., Tukwila, WA 98188. You may also request an application by email from the Personnel Office OR download a packet from our website.

All applications for employment with the City of Tukwila require an original application and may include supplemental questionnaires to be completed. Each application requires an original signature. An original application and supplemental questionnaire, when required, must be completed and submitted for each position that you wish to be considered for. Applications must be received in the Personnel Office by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date. Postmarks, faxed, photocopied or email forms of applications or resumes will not be accepted. Any individual requiring ADA accommodation during any part of the selection process should advise the City of the need.

Screening:

A review of each candidate's education and experience will be performed. Selected candidates will be scheduled for an oral interview, conducted by a selection panel and appropriate testing conducted. Final selection will be based on the overall results.

Notification:

All applicants will be notified by mail that the position has been filled. All applicants who are interviewed will be notified of the results of the interview process by letter.

Employment:

In compliance with the Immigration Reform Act of 1986, all persons offered employment must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Such proof must be presented prior to starting employment.

Hours of Work:

The normal work week is forty hours, Monday through Friday. However, some positions require weekend, shift, holiday or overtime work.

Compensation:

The City's policy is to establish and maintain a salary system that is internally fair, competitive and comparable.

Union Affiliation:

Some City positions require union membership.

Probation:

Regular status is subject to successful completion of a probationary period, except for "at will" employees.
