One doesn't have to travel very far to see how social and health service programs are assisting our Tukwila residents most in need. The following lists some local programs that can be visited to better understand how Tukwila, United Way and other funds support efforts to increase self sufficiency and stability. Literacy Source

Literacy Source offers English classes to our refugee and immigrant population.
Classes are held at the Samara apartments on Monday and Wednesday evenings

Highline offers English classes 4 nights a week at the Tukwila School District
Community Schools Collaboration

Community Schools operates an extended day program to Tukwila School District program at all 5 schools.
Academic and social and health enrichment programs are provided, supporting positive student development and success.
Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWa)

RAYS offers counseling, prevention and intervention services through the Tukwila School District. Specialized
programming support positive behavior modeling and positive development for Latina girls attending Showalter and Foster High School.

Ruth Dykeman Children's Center

Senior Services Meals on Wheels

Our most vulnerable homebound seniors receive meals delivered to their home to support their independence and their nutritional status.
Senior Services Volunteer Transportation

Frail seniors are assisted with rides to their medical appointments

The Pantry is open three times a week to receive free food, supporting their nutrition and freeing up funds to pay for other services

Funds support the operating costs of the Tukwila houses "leased" to the Way Back Inn to help homeless families back on their feet.
International Rescue Committee

IRC represents one of the areas resettlement organizations that resettles newly arriving refugees into the country.

Treehouse is opening a learning center at Starfire Sports Complex for children with active Children Protective Service cases.
Please note: The City contracts with 14 other agencies that are not included in this list. This does not mean that the services they offer are any less important - for example emergency rental and utility assistance, domestic violence and sexual assault services are critical to meet the well being of our residents. We are willing and able to arrange tour services or speakers for the additional organizations:
