The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for Central Services, Public Meetings, Public Records, and is considered the
general information center for City business. This includes oversight of official City records, management of
the agenda process for City Council meetings, and composition of Council meeting minutes. All contracts and agreements
are reviewed and executed through the Clerk’s Office. Technical support is provided for the development of ordinances
and resolutions, and the Clerk’s Office is responsible for updating, codifying and publishing the Tukwila Municipal Code.
The department is responsible for staffing the Central Services counter and switchboard, to include customer service
inquiries, pet licenses, sale of history books, receipt and distribution of mail and deliveries, notary services, legal
notifications, acceptance of claims and litigation, bids, and public records requests, and the creation of research logs
and databases. The City Clerk also serves as the City's liaison to King County concerning elections and voter registration.
The City Clerk is the City's Public Records Officer and is responsible for the administration of the City-wide Records
Management Program. Duties include oversight of the off-site Records Storage Center, archiving and destruction of documents,
microfilming of essential records, recording of official documents, staff training, policy development, and administration
of the document imaging system.
