The City Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining the City's official documents, including ordinances and resolutions; preparation of weekly agendas; and keeping the minutes of City Council meetings. This department processes business licenses, pet licenses, passport applications, provides notary and voter registration services, sells Tukwila History books, computerizes legislative history, records contracts and agreements, and maintains city-wide mailing lists. It is also responsible for updating, codifying and publishing the Tukwila Municipal Code, publishing the City's Hazelnut newsletters, seasonal recreation brochures, annual financial statements, annual City budget, policy/procedure manuals, and the employee newsletter. Desktop Publishing and Word Processing support is provided for forms design, brochures, pamphlets, flyers, handouts, signs, logos, certificates, and organization charts and graphs.
The City's records retention, microfilming and records storage is provided through the City Clerk's office, as well as overseeing destruction of records. Technical support is given for the publication of ordinances and resolutions, correspondence, and staff reports. The City Clerk's office is considered the general information desk for City business. All department mail distribution and the central switchboard are located in the City Clerk's Office.
